Space Workshops

What are the Space Workshops?
A series of workshops dedicated to building national capabilities in space science and technology to effectively support the UAE’s ambitious space program. It will serve as an accelerator of space knowledge and know-how to a cohort of participants by combining excellent academic and research practices with a unique atmosphere that encourages and nurtures a space culture of innovation.
The Space workshops are specifically designed to accelerate the transfer of space knowledge and know-how to individuals interested in a career in the space sector.
The UAE Space Agency will guide this effort to target individuals interested in participating in a 6-month training program designed to teach individuals the requisite space skills needed to implement national space programs within multiple knowledge areas and disciplines.
This program enhances the academic knowledge with know-how workshop gained by hands on experiences in the UAE. It is an intensive, experiential, space systems development accelerator that bridges academic knowledge with realities of space development projects.
Objectives
1. Support the UAE Space Sector by producing qualified individuals wanting to pursue the field.
2. Make knowledge of space practices available to a broad group of interested individuals.
3. Highlight important considerations in building systems to operate in space.
4. Support preparation of qualified personnel for upcoming UAE space missions.
Program Structure
The two-phase training program consists of the following:
Phase 1:

A two-week academic workshop focusing on the space environment’s impact on the design elements of a space mission. It will adopt a classroom system; offering lectures, dialogue sessions, interactive games, online reviews, unique exploration experiences, and tests that introduce participants to the main considerations of space missions.

Based on the evaluation results of the first phase, qualified participants will move to the second phase of the program.

Phase 2:

A four-month know-how workshop where the participants will be teamed within a professionally guided space mission concept development process to familiarize with the dynamics, challenges and the often not-so-perfect features typical of a space program’s initial design process.
